Kim Stone Named To San Francisco Business Times Most Influential Women List

Friday May 29, 2020

Chase Center General Manager Kim Stone has been named to this year’s San Francisco Business Times Most Influential Women in Business list, recognizing her efforts in leading Chase Center and its staff through the COVID-19 pandemic and her illustrious career in arena operations. Stone was previously named to the South Florida Business Journal’s list of Most Influential Women in Business in 2009 while serving as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of American Airlines Arena as a member of the Miami Heat organization.

Utilizing her previous experience in handling arena crisis situations, including Zika, H1N1 and MERS outbreaks from her time in Miami, Stone adapted to the early COVID-19 reports and implemented a program to significantly enhance the arena’s sanitization protocols prior to the suspension of the NBA season. She is currently guiding the organization’s taskforce that is creating additional new arena protocols and procedures, including those for future live events and everyday experiences for both Chase Center employees and guests.

“Kim’s accomplishments in the arena management business are incredibly impressive, especially when you consider many of the unique challenges that she has faced over the years,” said Warriors President and COO Rick Welts. “She is the perfect person to lead us through our current situation and we’re thrilled that her incredible work is being recognized.”

Stone joined the Warriors in April of 2019 to oversee day-to-day operations of the arena and was quickly tasked with building an operations team that would be responsible for preparing Chase Center for its inaugural year. Under her leadership, Chase Center successfully concluded the busiest opening month of any recent major arena opening, having hosted 14 events in just 25 days. The opening month included many of the biggest names in the music industry, featuring the likes of Elton John, Janet Jackson, John Mayer and Metallica.

Stone’s list of honors and awards include:

• 2018 South Florida Business Journal – Business of Pride Award
• 2018 WISE Women of the Year
• 2017 Sports Business Journal Power Player in Facility Management
• 2015 Sports Business Journal Playmakers Award
