The Lead-Up to Chase Center: Andrea Bocelli

Tuesday December 3, 2019

Andrea Bocelli managed to rise from humble beginnings to become one of the most beloved and revered figures in music. Bocelli was born with glaucoma and was completely stripped of his eyesight at the age of 12 following a freak soccer injury. The condition did not stop Bocelli from growing into a world-renowned singer, becoming the best-selling classical solo artist in history, or indulging in one of his favorite past times, horseback riding.

Bocelli will kick off his tour at Chase Center on December 5. The show also marks his first performance with the San Francisco Symphony. Bocelli will fill Chase Center with his notable love songs, other masterpieces from his unmatched repertoire, as well as music from his newest release and Billboard chart-topping record .

As fans prepare for a night of fantastic music at the classical star’s first-ever Chase Center performance, read up on some notable reviews from Bocelli’s past shows:

The Yorkshire Post:
“But in the here and now, Bocelli is magnificent – from an opening salvo of Verdi classics through to a spine-tingling version of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love. Throughout it all, whenever he steps up, it is clear that this is one of the finest opera recitals in the business, if not the best.”

Birmingham Live:
“On stage, Bocelli doesn't say much. In fact he may not have said anything, he simply smiled and let his voice do the talking for him … I felt quite privileged to have seen him perform, this was more than just a concert. This was an impeccable performance from one of the best opera singers to have lived.”

The Charlotte Observer:
“From the hypnotic first verse of Puccini’s 'Rocondita armonia' at the top of the show to his take on 'West Side Story’s' 'Maria' to the soaring, standing-ovation-getting, 15-second-long note that punctuated the finale (Puccini’s 'Nessun dorma'), Bocelli was in total command … Pitch-wise, time-wise, tonality, melody – it was all spot-on, all night long.”
