Following the release of his newest album Desperate Man, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2018, Eric Church’s highly-praised Double Down Tour will make its way to the Bay Area.
Church’s 13-year career was jump-started with the release of his first album Sinners Like Me in 2006, which produced three top-20 singles on the Billboard country charts. His follow-up albums, 2009's Carolina and 2011's Chief, then included his first top-10 hits, two No. 1 singles, and Chief won Album of the Year at the CMA Awards and ACM Awards.
Church is known for bringing his unique style to a typical a country music tour: three-hour sets with no opener, and changing up his setlist nightly. He has spent most of the Double Down Tour performing back-to-back nights, but don’t expect that during his visit to San Francisco. This is a one-night-only event, so be prepared for your chance to enjoy hits from his latest album Desperate Man as well as previous hits from the past decade.
This won’t simply be a showcase of Church’s catalogue, though. A contributor for Forbes noted: “It’s a show where paying tribute to Merle Haggard in the first set and Queen in the second set feels natural (yes, a “Fat Bottom Girls” cover happened).” It all goes down on Saturday, September 28th at Chase Center.
