Water Reclamation & Conservation

  • Graywater recovery from restrooms and showers, along with stormwater harvesting from the roof. 
  • Reclaimed water can be treated on–site before reuse in restroom flush fixtures. 
  • Efficient water fixtures selected, reducing water consumption by 30%
  • Combined with on-site non-potable water use the project was able to reduce water consumption by over 84% compared to the baseline, resulting in 2,828,992 gallons/year of water savings.

Irrigation and Landscaping 

  • The irrigation system installed on the project was efficient and provided 63% savings in water consumption over the baseline through selecting native and adapted species of plants that have lower water needs.

    Energy

    Renewable Energy Procurement

    • Chase Center procures 100% renewable energy through CleanPowerSF using Renewable Energy Credits.

    Urban Heat Mitigation and Sustainable Design

    • The building features light-colored roofing and paving to mitigate urban heat impacts on microclimates, as well as human and wildlife habitats. 
    • Underground parking is utilized to reduce heat absorption. 

    Energy Efficiency Measures

    • Energy consumption is minimized through occupancy lighting and LED usage throughout the building. 
    • Indirect-Direct Evaporative Cooling (IDEC) air handling units significantly decrease the need for mechanical cooling.

      Transportation

      • Chase Center has made significant investments in sustainable transportation to enhance multimodal access for fans. Chase Center’s partnership with SFMTA allows event tickets to double as MUNI passes, encouraging greater use of public transit.
      • Additionally, Chase Center offers commuter benefits to promote public transportation, carpooling, and other commuter alternatives.To support cyclists, we provide a dedicated bike valet for 300 bikes, along with additional exterior bike corrals. We have also prioritized electric vehicle infrastructure, installing 96 EV charging stations and offering preferred parking for low-emission vehicles. Other initiatives, such as the game day ferry, further enhance accessibility while reducing environmental impact.

      Waste

      Chase Center is committed to waste reduction and diversion through comprehensive sustainability initiatives.

      Waste Diversion and On-site Sorting

      • Through our partnership with Pritchard Sports and Entertainment, Chase Center has a dedicated on-site waste sorting team that helps to reduce contamination across all streams. 
      • During the 22-23 season, Chase Center diverted 83% of its waste from landfill and achieved zero waste at over 37 arena events. The following season achieved an 88% diversion rate (a 5% growth from last season) and reached zero waste at 45 total events. 
      • After installing a cardboard baler in 2023, Chase Center has recycled and diverted 82 tons of cardboard from landfill.
      • The building’s on-site biodigester converts organic waste into soil amendment in as little as 72 hours. 

      Food Recovery 

      • Through the Pass the Plate program in partnership with Doordash and Replate, Chase Center has rescued 56,300 meals to 15+ local community non-profits in the Bay Area since its launch. 

      Donations Program 

      • Chase Center has implemented a company-wide donation program, donating 7,652 items to 21 nonprofit organizations in the Bay Area in 2024. As a result, ~14,000 pounds were diverted from landfill.

        Community

        Chase Center and Warriors Community is committed to enhancing everyday actions that drive sustainable futures. Our programs aim to educate and elevate environmental awareness, focusing on habitat restoration, sustainable mobility, and recycling education.

        Food Justice 

        • 2021-22 Season: Hosted the Future for Food Youth Dinner, where leading experts educated youth (ages 14+) on food waste and cooking with rescued produce from Replate.

        Urban Reforestation

        • 2022-23 & 2023-24 Seasons: Organized annual urban reforestation events with Friends of the Urban Forest and OneTreePlanted.
        • Engaged Golden State Warriors employees and fans to help replant over 70 urban trees in San Francisco neighborhoods.
        • 2023-24 Season: Hosted the Gala for Good, a fine dining event celebrating 30+ local nonprofits focused on food equity and justice.and Education
