About Ray Obiedo Trio
For years Ray Obiedo has been at the forefront of musicians and composers that have combined Jazz, Latin, Brasilian and Caribbean styles into a fresh and dynamic new musical brew. Bringing together Contemporary Jazz and World Beat elements and fusing them with his infectious brand of West Coast Funk. Ray has released 10 solo projects, 5 of which have been released on his own Oakland based record label Rhythmus Records. Ray’s long time association with Pete Escovedo’s Orchestra continues today. Tours with Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and the JB Horns, sax icon Maceo Parker, have all been highlights. A world tour in 1978-79 with jazz superstar Herbie Hancock is still one Ray’s most treasured musical memories. Recording session with George Duke, Lou Rawls, Grover Washington Jr., Brenda Russell, The Whispers and most recently The Bob Mintzer Big Band.
Eventbrite registration is highly recommended and will receive priority access to the event. If the event is sold out, limited walkup registrations may be available on a first-come, first-served basis day of the event.
